I can’t even remember if there was ever an instance that I yelled because of anger. And no, I have no amnesia. *I rarely drink coffee and I do, I don’t add sugar. I strictly don’t drink carbonated drinks. OCCUPATION * CPA * Senior Associate in an auditing firm in Makati EDUCATION Elementary: Ednas School of San Carlos City High School: Virgen Milagrosa Special Science High School College: Saint Louis University, Baguio City (Batch 2003) BS Accountancy (cum laude) *Awardee, Ten Outstanding Students of Cordillera Administrative Region (2003) *Official nominee, Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines *Passed the Certified Public Accountant licensure exam in October 2003 FAMILY BACKGROUND (updated April07) If there is one thing that constantly makes me pleased with what I have, then that would be my one big happy family. While it is true that we are not rich in terms of material wealth, we consider ourselves well-off in other aspects. My father is a CPA who works as a public servant while my mother manages a small business that we have in the province. I am the sixth child. Time has been so fast and my siblings have all grown up. And all these years, my brothers and sisters have been trying to follow the right path. • Atsi Lorelie - a registered physical therapist who worked in Saudi for two years. However, before she left, she finished a degree in BS Accountancy. She now manages our family business. Her patriotism is believed to be manifested of her following the Filipino time consistently. Once, I wondered why I always get late. Then I looked at her scurrying and I told myself, it must be in the genes. • Atsi Leida - she now holds the longest name in the family. CPA, MBA... now PhD. Just recently, she took over the position of a dean in a university near our place (she succeeded my father who had just retired). Last year-end vacation, she arranged the photos in my album without any cost and even dyed and trimmed my hair. Whenever I ask her to cut my hair, it must be frugality over vanity. Or maybe I’m just used to taking risks (my younger sister once ran over to a barber shop for repair!). She just got married in January 2007. • Atsi Leizyl - another registered physical therapist. She got married in June 2006 and now we are all excited as we look forward to the birth of her daughter (but no one is more excited than she is). They say we have common physical features which we inherited from our late grandmother. In college, she was also into writing. She was my playmate in scrabble. • Kuya Balong - officer of the Philippine Air Force - from 1st Lieutenant now a captain. He is a member of PMA Class 2000. When we were younger, he was my playmate in chess. In 2005, his beautiful wife gave birth to Louise, our first niece. He gave me the idea of unexplained poverty when I was used to hearing about unexplained wealth in the news. • Atsi Lala - the third CPA in the family. She currently works in a telecommunications company. Unlike me, she is already thinking of her future and has started investing for it. She takes pleasure in cleaning the entire house (it is the first thing she does whenever she goes home) and strictly cautions me when I step my filthy shoes on the floor. During special occasions, all of us get busy in the kitchen except for her who admits that she has no talent in cooking other than to chop the ingredients. • Babes (her nickname is Baby but she is too old for her name) - she is now a doctor of dentaI medicine. I call her “Miss Beautiful” especially when I ask a favor from her and she addresses me the same. Although she is younger than me, most people often mistake me as the youngest daughter. She strongly protests whenever I teasingly affirm that she is indeed older than me. • Nonong - the youngest in the family. He is currently taking up an Engineering course after graduating in high school on top of his class. Several years ago, he was just a kid who takes possession of the remote control while the rest of us try to grab it from him. After unsuccessful efforts, we end up with no other choice but to endure watching Cartoon Network or Discovery Channel. ABOVE ALL Despite all that I have, still I have nothing to boast of. I know very well that without God, I am nothing. To Him be given all the glory. *By the way, my name is Leslie.
