Almost

She walked away confused.
She gazed at you. She wanted to hold your hand. She wanted to squeeze her arms around you and give you the warmest embrace. Of course you never knew and you’ll probably never know.
You won’t see it much in her actions. Her subtle ways were discreet. But in secrecy, she dreamt about you. She had accepted you entirely, even your bad habits. She had learned to understand your misdeeds, dwelling much on the goodness that you’ve shown. You were always in her prayers. She asked God to keep you safe. She even asked for signs where only two out of three gave her symbols of hope.
She never entertained others. She waited for you. But you never made an effort. You probably had timid attempts but those were never enough to let her know.
She wanted to call you a coward. She wanted to boost your self-esteem in case that is what you were lacking of. She thought there might be something wrong. Is there something about you that she should have known?
She gave you so many presumptive chances although never a concrete one. She had her senses intact. She still wanted you to be on the driver’s seat.
Then she came to give you your last chance. But you let her go without even trying. She was confused but tried hard not to look back. She walked away with unanswered questions - questions that were never really asked.
She walked away. And you might not see her again.
But you almost had her.
